The Circle Line....

The Circle Line (CCL) is Singapore's fourth Mass Rapid Transit line. The fully underground line will be 35.7 km long with 31 stations when fully completed, and will be operated by SMRT Corporation. It will be the world's longest fully automated metro line. This line is coloured orange in the rail map

Not that it's any of my concerns.,.. Heck! I won't even be using it much for it's not really convenient for me to hop on to the line (same goes for NEL). Looking at some of the names of the stations, it really makes one wonder how do those names come about...

• Promenade Station : This station is at the other end of Suntec City, sits between Suntec City and Millenia Walk. Why not name it Millenia Walk Station instead of Esplanade Station when the Esplanade is few hundred metres away?
• Dakota Station : Why not Old Airport when the road name is Old Airport Road, the hawker's centre there is Old Airport Hawker's Centre?
• Stadium Station : Why not National Stadium? Or Kallang Stadium? Or even Sports Hub Station to coincide with the future Sports Hub being planned for the area?
• Bras Basah Station : Its right in front of the Singapore Art Museum, why not Singapore Art Museum Station for name? Too long? How about SMU Station instead?
• Kent Ridge Station : The area there is not even known as Kent Ridge, its commonly known as NUH or Science Park... Again, another bad choice of name...

Lets hope the folks at LTA will come up with better names for the stations of the Downtown Line....

I've mixed up the location of Promenade & Esplanade Stations. The latter station is now appropriately named in my opinion and I've thus removed my comments about this station. As for Promenade, my opinion remains...
