Walking on Sunshine

During the recent PC Show, M1 was offering a 50% discount on all their Mobile Broadband(MBB) plans. With my pleasant experience during the 6mth 'trial' where I was on its 2Mbps plan, its a no brainer for me to 'take the plunge' and enjoy the 50% offer. By the next day, I'm a proud user of M1's 7.2Mbps MBB.

However, I've no idea what I've gotten myself into....

Firstly, I found that :
1. surfing was extremely slow
2. download very slow
3. I can barely run 3 internet utilizing simultaneously

A bandwidth speed-test at Speedtest.net finally proved that I'm indeed being short-changed in terms of bandwidth!

I called M1 last week to complain about the problem...I just called M1 to complain about the MBB problems again. I also mentioned that I'm very unhappy to be paying for a 7.2Mbps line when I'm only able to utilize only 1Mbps.

The CSO had me on hold while she checks her records and all... when she returns, this was her what she had for me : "Mr Lee, I've checked our records and it indicates that our Engineering Department had been informed. They will check on your feedback and revert soon. In view of the charges, we will waive them off for this month.

A 'New' Room

With the moving out of Bro & family, my house now more quiet as compared to before. Bro had moved in sometime in January to stay temporarily while his new place is still being done up and today's the day they moved in to the new place in Bukit Panjang. I'm abit sad that they've moved out because in the past 3mths of them being around, the house had become noiser (mainly due to baby Elkan) and more 'life' due to the presence of more people.

Anyway, this passing episode also means something good for me and this is a good opportunity for me to replace those long-due-for-replacement furniture in my room. I bought a Super-Single Bed with Mattress and a Side-Table last weekend and will be taking delivery on the coming Monday. These are just phase 1 of my Room Overhaul. Phase 2 will see the replacement of my Computer Table and the addition of a Shelving Cabinet. Phase 3 should take place next year sometime before CNY where I intend to change the colour of the room to maybe Latte?

Another lesson learnt and applied on management : Make your subordinate feel at home and he/she will be more than willing to go the extra mile. :)

Launch of BC39

Sunday was the quarterly launch of Body Combat Release 39 for True Fitness of which the Great World City (GWC), Suntec City (STC) & Parkway Parade outlets were involved.

Its my very first time being involved in a launch. I was never able to attend previous launches due to 1001 reasons and you can imagine how excited I was about it this time around that I'd be able to make it. I was so into this launch that I decided to attend 2 sessions of it, once at GWC and another at STC. I even managed to persuade Garion, Shaw and Alan to join me as we wear 'uniform' yesterday.

Knowing me, I seldom attend 2 BCs on the same day and I must admit I was pretty reluctant to attend the morning session initially but since having promised Mich, I'd figured that I'd better not be a pilot. I met up with Garion @ 1030hrs in Orchard before making our way over. As we leisurely walked in at about 1059hrs, the fellow at the reception told us something which made our jawed dropped and eyes popped out!

He said : "BC already started."

You should have seen the mad rush the 2 of us clowns made! I'd all along thought the launch here is at 1130hrs, not 1100hrs. Had i known it to be 1100hrs, I'd have met Garion earlier! He went into the studio directly having wore the gym attire from home, I rushed into the changing room to get ready. But the time I made it over to the studio, the warm-up is already in progress. My initial intention was to join in after the warm-up. However, spotting an empty plot of land near the door plus seeing the choreo to be jabs at that moment, I seized the oppotunity and quickly moved to occupy the 'plot'. I was barely 10 jabs into my warm-up when I felt someone coming very close to me. It was Alan; he, too, thought the launch @ GWC was 1130hrs.

The 3 Instructors presenting the launch here was Joeson, Ben and Weili. Joeson's queing is as per usual; clear and concise. The queing of the other 2, sadly, leaves MUCH room for improvement. This release is about being back to the basics of BC, involving plenty of punches, upper-cuts, kicks, etc... Next up was BC @ STC, 1530hrs presented by Sue, Eric and Jo. Comparing the trio here with the former trio, I'd say its a no contest, NONE AT ALL. There may be MORE 'performance', MORE flamboyant clothings and MORE decorations on-stage, but to me, I'd prefer MORE energy, MORE motivation and MORE adrenalin in the queing which are ALL present in the STC launch.

To be honest, I would be lying if I say I wasn't disappointed with this new release. This is partly because of the music lacking the 'element' which brings up the adrenalin in me, not to even mention the lack of more challenging moves like the Esquivas or Evasive Side-Kicks. Nevertheless, I'd still go for my min. thrice weekly fix of BC for the next 2wks where they will be doing this new release.

My current fave tracks stands at T1 (Upper Body only), T2, T4, T6 and T8.

Recession? What recession??????

Was at the PC Show this afternoon during lunchtime together with Gary and Jon. The jam started way back along AYE near the upcoming IR!! With the initial plan to park at the Suntec (STC) Loading/Un-loading bay area disrupted by the massive jam into the STC area, Jon drove on to Esplanade and park there instead.

Cutting across Marina Sq and onto the linkbridge to STC, you can see that many others had the same idea as us; to visit on the first day during lunchtime, hoping to beat the crowd. But alas we were soooooo wrong... the aisles, corridors and escalators were all packed!! Seemed to me a quarter of the population were on leave today and all decided to visit STC at the same time!

The PC Show this time seemed to be the biggest around. It took up the entire Level 2 (and its ballrooms), 3, 4 and 6 with the following floor plan allocation :
Level 2 : 'SinkTel' & M1...
Level 3 : Starhub, Apple & Sony...
Level 4 : Desktops, Laptops, TVs & the likes...
Level 6 : Other Peripherals...

Going around the booths, one can see the retailers pulling out all stops in their bids to fight for the dollar in the consumer's pocket so as to keep their accounts in the black. If the sale registers had a 'tink' sound whenever a sale was made, you'd never be able to hear your buddy next to you talking because the only sound you'd keep hearing is "tink tink tink tink tink tink tink tink....", well, you get the drift....Everywhere you turn, you'd see many happy faces lugging along either a TV or printer, maybe even laptops home. Such is the intensity of the transactions made within the first 1hr!

We, of course, played our part and contributed to the sales as well. Jon bought a laptop, Gary's gotten himself an earphone while I bought my long-awaited External HDD, a Maxtor 1 Touch 4, 640GB for $109.
